MapZa

Curiosity, one pin at a time

About MapZa

A name on a map can become somewhere you remember. MapZa turns that moment of recognition into a short geography game.

MapZa is an independent personal project operated under the MapZa name. Its aim is to make exploring cities and countries an enjoyable habit: a Daily to compare with friends, fresh practice when you want another go, and themed events with a geographic story.

Built around real places

City data, country boundaries and map imagery come from several sources. The catalog combines familiarity and population signals to create a range of challenges. Boundaries and names are gameplay aids rather than statements about political status.

The data and map attribution page records sources, licences and the downloadable geographic-data release. Satellite imagery is delivered through NASA GIBS; the game uses MapLibre for its interactive globe.

Accounts and privacy

Adults can create multiple player profiles under one verified email account. Child profiles stay outside global leaderboards. Read the privacy policy for data collection and closure details, and the terms of use before creating an account.
